When customers use their debit card or check card, which is tied to their checking account, it is necessary that the customers enter a Password, referred to as a Pin Number. In order for the customers to enter their Pin Number, it is necessary that the merchant’s credit card processing system is equipped with a piece of equipment called the Pin Pad. The customers will enter their Password or Pin Number into the Pin Pad to authorize and complete the transaction. The Pin Number is a secret number, known only by the customer, to avoid anyone else from using a lost or stolen card.
